Ever since I was a young child, I marveled at the sight of super heroes, bodybuilders, and my dad who’s in my eyes has been jacked ever since I could remember. I looked up not only their physiques, but also their strength. Such as the hero’s getting in epic battles or saving countless people, bodybuilders showcasing how much weight they could load a barbell up with, or almost any task my dad would take on as both a firefighter and carpenter. And even though I would daydream about how cool it would be to have either a jacked muscular physique, or be stronger than most men, I never fully acted on that feeling. I was actually a chubby kid who did like to do things outside and play some sports, but also very much enjoyed snacks, video games, and hanging out with friends.
Once I got to high school I began to thin out quite a bit, but was more “skinny fat” or dad-bod-ish than anything. I can remember during these years I used to watch TONS of YouTube videos on world’s strongest man events and for a long period of time really wanted to be a model for Abercrombie, Hollister, or Armani. Watching videos or looking on the designer clothes website would give me slight motivation to occasionally workout for a few weeks or months at a time, but it never really stuck. For some reason or another I would have a yo-yo relationship with weightlifting.
Once I got out of high school, I pretty much didn’t work out at all for the first two years of undergrad. Then during my second year, I had a lot of transitions in my life that led me to have a lot of extra time on my hands and I decided to put this time to good use and tried picking up the weights again. My main reason may have initially been to “get jacked” or “look shredded” and my lifting and nutrition habits may not have been the best, but at least I started.
With the minor exception of an 8 month hiatus in my early lifting career, ever since that day I started seriously training, a small kindling has grown into a full rolling fire that has fueled my passion for the fitness industry. I do my best to consume as much content as I can, but also put what I learn into practice. That way I can have as much experience as possible that allows me to learn efficiently and help people in the most effective way.
To sum me up, my passion lies in bodybuilding and I love learning as much as I can about lifting/nutrition/health. Even though I may be focused and dedicated when it comes to my training and nutrition, I’m a pretty laid back guy that loves to enjoy life, which includes drinking some beers, traveling, and finding new tasty meals to try.
